Conference Planner, RAC

The Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism (RAC), the Washington/Social Action office of the Reform Jewish movement, is seeking a Conference Planner.  The position is available starting in July.

About the Position:

The Primary responsibilities center around:

Logistics and administration for all conferences, programs, and trainings including:

  • Reserving, negotiating, and booking meeting space;
  • Arranging transportation and meals for conference attendees;
  • Regularly communicating with congregational staff and chaperones
  • Serving as the primary contact for vendors including hotel, transportation, caterers;
  • Tracking finances and collecting payments for all programs
  • Scheduling Senate/House appointments;
  • Assisting the Program Team with administrative duties.

The qualified candidate will:

  • Have a proven ability to work with meeting site personnel, caterers, and other service providers;
  • Have excellent inter-personal and organizational skills.
  • Have experience in program coordination and/or conference and event planning; 
  • Be detail oriented, able to work under pressure, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously with the ability to set, track, and keep deadlines;
  • Be able to use resources creatively in order to minimize expenses;
  • Work as part of a team;
  • Have excellent inter-personal skills;
  • Be willing to work nights and weekends;
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Be proficient in a Microsoft office programs (experience with DIA/Salsa, iMovie or Final Cut Pro is helpful).

This is an entry level position.

The RAC is the Washington office of the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ) and the Central Conference of American Rabbis (CCAR) and represents 1.5 million Reform Jews and 1,800 Reform rabbis in 900 congregations throughout the United States and Canada.  The RAC is a non-partisan, 501C(3) that stands as a voice for Jewish social justice in the nation’s capital.
