Other Ideas and Activities to Consider Throughout the Year

Annual Meeting

  • At your Annual Meeting, discuss investing temple resources in community development funds (see CHIP: The Chai Investment Program). Use the occasion to honor local individuals and community agencies serving the needy and/or collect items for donation.

Bat & Bat        Mitzvah

  • Encourage bar and bat mitzvah students to engage in tzedakah projects as a sign that they are ready to take responsibility for their observance of the mitzvot. Instead of bima flowers, consider decorating the bima with decorative food baskets, which can be donated later to a food pantry. Books can be used as centerpieces and then donated to a needy public school library or other organization. For further bar and bat mitzvah project suggestions visit the RAC’s Youth Mitzvah Projects site and the social action program bank.
