Graphic Designer – Youth Programs

URJ Youth is looking for a creative and collaborative individual who will be responsible for designing online experiences, some printed collateral, and light editing of video for digital channels. You’ll be the primary designer for in-house for social media, web, email, and print.  Some work will be carrying forth existing assets, but there will be opportunities to develop new templates, designs and iterations of the brand as it grows. 

You will be asked to produce a variety of mediums and tactics including: websites, printed collateral, direct mail, email marketing, etc. You will also be asked to take raw video from the field and develop short videos that illustrate the values and experiences of our organization. You need to be a bit of a “jack-of-all-trades”, be proactive, be a self-starter, and be a creative thinker and executor. You must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, often with tight deadlines and sometimes with last minute request. Flexibility is key for this position. 

The Youth division boasts more than 60 youth, teen, and young adult experiences – summer camps, year-round regional programs, and national and international travel programs – currently engaging over 20,000 individuals annually.   As a member of the marketing and communication's team, the graphic designer is integral in bringing our programs to life as we aspire to increase engagement of our current constituents all the while increasing the number of individuals we are currently reaching through one of these 60+ programs.  


  • Print: Design for infographics, posters, reports, invitations, flyers/signs, etc. 
  • Web and Email: Creating graphics (buttons, icons, etc.)  for websites and designs for email communications 
  • Social Media: Create compelling, shareable social media graphics and complementary video  
  • Maintain an organized library of visual and video assets 
  • Maintain the integrity of all designs ensuring consistency with brand guidelines. Serve as a resource for staff and provide counsel on templates and brand standards. 
  • Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with external vendors and internal staff to enhance coordination and to meet deadlines. 


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Digital Arts, or a related Degree. 
  • At least five years of full time proven experience at an agency or in-house Communications Department. 
  • Significant experience with the Adobe Creative Suite for Mac, (especially Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and Premiere). 
  • Familiarity with Web Design, CMS platforms (WordPress), UX Design and Email Design 
  • Portfolio of print and web design projects personally conceived and developed by designer. 


  • Experience working with Salesforce Marketing Cloud or similar email marketing tool. 
  • PowerPoint presentation skills. 
  • Experience in a nonprofit environment. 
  • Familiar with Reform Judaism and Union for Reform Judaism programs. 
  • Familiar with the youth and teen market. 
  • Evidence of ongoing training (online courses, conferences, classes etc.) to refresh and expand skills. 


  • Ability to take items from concept to production in a smart, efficient manner  
  • Highly collaborative with the ability to translate feedback into exceptional creative design 
  • Ability to prioritize workload and daily assignments efficiently; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; follow through on issues in a timely manner, and to meet deadlines

  • Ability to travel (occasionally)
