LGBTQ Active Learning Network

In 2015, congregations of the Union for Reform Judaism unanimously passed a resolution calling for the full inclusion of transgender and gender nonconforming individuals in our communities.

In Spring 2016, the Religious Action Center and the Audacious Hospitality team at the URJ partnered with Keshet and the Youth and Gender Media Project to offer a new Active Learning Network around this issue. This program was an opportunity for Reform communities to advance their inclusion initiatives, particularly around gender diversity. Throughout this six-webinar series, participants were able to gain an understanding of the experiences transgender Jews have in our congregations and greater society, and learned about opportunities to better welcome and honor people of all gender identities. Together we explored the realms of communication, worship, life-cycle events, and supporting youth in religious schools and youth groups. Institutions and individuals are welcome to join us for webinars no matter where they are on their journey towards greater LGBTQ inclusion, and no prior competency is needed.

While this series has ended please go the Audacious Hospitality page on the Tent to access the previously recorded Webinars on Transgender Inclusion and all supporting materials.
