American Jewish Archives

40th Council
November 1948
Boston

The Union of American Hebrew Congregations views with enthusiastic interest the establishment at the Hebrew Union College of the American Jewish Archives, dedicated to the collection, preservation and study of American Jewish historical records. We agree that an essential phase of American Jewry's coming of age must be the recording and analysis of its own background and developments.

BE IT RESOLVED that all constituent members of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations be and are hereby urged to cooperate in the projects of the American Jewish Archives by landing or contributing their own minute and record books, and, further, by appealing to their members and friends for interesting family documents and memorabilia to the end that historians may find assembled in one centrally located Archive, all of the significant source material for the writing of American Jewish history.
