The Biennial by the Bay

Adopted by the 69th General Assembly
Sunday, December 16, 2007 - San Diego, CA

BACKGROUND

The S.S. URJ Biennial had a splendid voyage on San Diego Bay! Our cruise may not have been relaxing, but it was inspiring, exciting, and rich with learning.

We were blessed with a tremendously talented crew who welcomed us aboard, and we recognize their yeomen's efforts and true dedication. From bow to stern, the program was outstanding, and the logistics were always shipshape.

Soon we'll be making another run. The Toronto Biennial promises something for everyone. Set your course north for adventure. We look forward to the open smiles and friendly shores of Lake Ontario.

Therefore, the Union for Reform Judaism resolves to:

Offer its collective heartfelt gratitude to:

  1. Admirals Jay Geller, Biennial Program Committee Chair, and Shirley Gordon, Biennial Program Committee Vice-chair, and all the members of the Biennial Program Committee for developing the informative, challenging and stimulating Biennial program;
  2. Harbor Masters Judy Fisher, Sharon Lash, and Lila Pesner, Local Arrangements Committee Co-chairs, and the entire Local Arrangements Committee for their invaluable on-shore assistance;
  3. Fleet Members from the San Diego and Orange Country Host Congregations for their courtesy, efficiency and always-friendly assistance;
  4. Captains Rabbi Elliot Kleinman, director of program for this Biennial, and Robin Hirsch, director of Meetings and Conventions; and the entire Union staff, without whom the 69th General Assembly would not have been possible.
