The Scheidt Seminar
A North American Training Institute for Congregational Presidents & Presidents-Elect

2017 URJ Scheidt Seminar

Registration for the 2017 URJ Scheidt Seminar is now open. Register today for the February Seminar (taking place in San Diego, CA), or for the April Seminar (taking place in Peachtree City, GA).

The URJ Scheidt Seminar is open to presidents and presidents-elect of URJ congregations.

To accommodate growing interest, in 2017 we will be offering two opportunities to attend the URJ Scheidt Seminar:

  1. February 9th-12th, 2017 - San Diego, CA
  2. April 20th-23rd, 2017 - Peachtree City, GA

Pricing and agenda will be the same in both locations, with Rabbi Rick Jacobs, Rabbi Aaron Panken, Amy Asin, Miriam Chilton, Rabbi Sam Joseph and Rabbi Lou Feldstein serving as faculty in both seminars.

An individual can attend the seminar only once. Congregational presidents should choose the date that works best for them for the opportunity to learn, network and worship with participants from congregations of different locations and sizes.

The URJ Scheidt Seminar

Since 1998, the URJ Scheidt Seminar for Presidents and Presidents-Elect has engaged over 1,500 congregational presidents. Funded through the generosity of Rudi and Honey Scheidt, the annual URJ Scheidt Seminar convenes congregational presidents to learn, network, build relationships, and enhance leadership skills. It serves as a springboard for learning throughout presidents' terms.

In four short days, participants will:

  • Learn and network with the leadership of the Reform Movement
  • Discuss solutions to everyday congregational problems
  • Explore Torah-based governance
  • Improve leadership skills
  • Increase Jewish knowledge
  • Meet and network with presidents of other Reform congregations
  • Share successful program ideas with other presidents
